Important world events to this point:
December 4th, 1999: The troubles brewing between India
and Pakistan surged
into an all-out war of attrition despite threats of
sanctions and military
actions made by the United States and her allies.
Neither side seemed
willing to utilize their new-found nuclear power until
January 28th, 2000,
when China entered the war on the side of Pakistan. The
entry of China on
the side of Pakistan gave rise to excessive panic in
the uper echelons of
Indian government. Chinese officials demanded Indian
surrender of key lands
in the northeast to China, and the session of Kashmir
to the Pakistani's
under threat of nuclear assault. In a surprise move,
the Indian government
first sought aid from the Russians, and, upon being
denied military
assistance, conceded to the Chinese demands. The
official armistice was
signed on February 10th, 2000, giving Kashmir to the
Pakistani government,
and lands up to the Ganges river to the Chinese. United
States' bans on
trade with China, India, and Pakistan prove more
harmful to the United
States than to her enemies, and collaboration with
other nations on such
trade bans proves fruitless.
December 6th, 1999: In Europe, the government of Russia
is siezed by
Communist partisans attempting to reunite the old
Soviet Union. All
anti-Communists in the Duma, as well as President
Yeltsin, are killed. The
Communist state of Russia, under the leadership of
Peter Zinoviev, sets up a
powerful Marxist regime over Russia. Special Russian
delegates are sent to
China, to improve Sino-Soviet relations. On January
12th, 2000, Russian
troops cross the boarder into Estonia, Lativa, and
Georgia. Within days, the
defenses of these nations succumb to the Russian bear,
and puppet states are
created serving the central government in Moscow.
Despite US trade
sanctions, the Russian economy begins to grow again,
but remains pathetic in
comparison to those of her capitalist neighbors.
February 12th, 2000: An American delegation to the
revived Soviet Empire
comes under attack by the self-proclaimed government
defense organization
"Free People's Front", or FPF. The Soviets deny any
attatchment to the
organization, and refuse to pay compensation to the US.
Japan's economy
unexpectedly collapses due to overspeculation.
February 24th, 2000: American special forces strike at
FPF camps inside
Soviet Russia. Russia freezes diplomatic relations with
the United States,
who's economy is now reeling under the strain caused by
the economic
collapse in Japan and southeast Asia. Chinese and
particularly Russian
economies remain curiously immune to the effects of the
collapse due to the
forced self-sufficiency of their governments, though
the economies of these
nations do suffer downturns.
March 13th, 2000: The European Union collapses. Unable
to cope with the
economic pressures of the Second Great Depression, as
well as the political
pressures placed on her by the Soviets, and frozen
relations with the Middle
East over issues involving the Israeli peace process,
this confederate
government was dissolved in all but name. Europen
nations have regained a
sense of independence and nationalism, especially in
France and Germany.
March 15th, 2000: Radical groups rise in America,
including religious
fanatics profisying the end of the world, and hate
groups attempting to
secure the supremisy of their particular race. The
government is able to
remain entact throughout the four-month-long rise of
opposition, but
America's political power is drastically endangered,
and the American
economy continues to slide below those of her European
allies.
April 3rd, 2000: The Indian government invades Pakistan
unexpectedly,
resecuring Kashmir in a handful of days. The Pakistani
government responds
with a call to arms to Iran, her fellow member of the
new Alliance of the
Nations of Mohammed. Iran, embroiled in a war with
Iraq, ignores the call to
arms. China and Russia demand that India pull troops
out of Kashmir.
April 21st, 2000: Pakistan mounts a full offensive into
Kashmir and the
entrenched Indian units stationed there. The surprise
and vastness of the
assault force Indian troops to fall back out Kashmir.
An uneasy cease-fire
is signed on April 28th.
May 3rd, 2000: North Korea mounts an invasion against
South Korea. The
Japanese government begins the expansion of a purely
Japanese military. The
United States denies assistance to South Korea based
upon the economic and
political turmoil there.
May 5th, 2000: Mayday! Parades in Russia accompany a
Russian invasion of
Uzbekistan. Russia and China announce their new
Communist Alliance.
June 23rd, 2000: Turkey siezes Cyprus from the Greeks.
The resulting war
lasts for a month and a half, with Greece siezing all
Turkish land holdings
in Europe, save the city of Istanbul.
August 1st, 2000: Iran siezes Baghdad causing the Iraqi
government to
collapse. Iran annexes Azerbaijan to the north and
encroaches on Kuwait.
Israel is attacked by Lebanon and Egypt. Lebanon falls,
Egypt signs a cease
fire seven days later.
August 23rd, 2000: Egypt joins in an Alliance with
Russia, as well as
signing into the Alliance of the Nations of Mohammed.
September 1st, 2000: Belgium, the Netherlands,
Luxembourg, and Denmark form
the Alliance of Benelux, to ensure mutual security and
economic success.
September 3rd, 2000: Ireland siezes Northern Ireland
from the struggling
nation of England. Scotland, taking the que from
Ireland, declares itself to
be an autonomous state, and the Scottish parliament
elects a new leader.
October 13th, 2000: England, the United States, France,
Spain, Italy, and
Germany recognize the failing power of the UN (which
never really existed in
the first place, many claim) and begin talks to form a
new Alliance.
November 25th, 2000: NATO is flooded with requests from
Eastern Europe for
acceptance into the Alliance. The growing power of the
Western European and
American economies is an attractive solution to the
encroaching Soviet empire.
December 1st, 2000: The first standoff between NATO and
the revived Soviet
empire occurs when Russia invades Lithuania and
Kazakhstan (the former of
which had previously petitioned for entry into NATO).
Russia backs off in
Kazakhstan but retains power in Lithuania
December 26th, 2000: Russia begins construction of a
massive eight-lane
highway running straight from Moscow to Vilnius, the
former Lithuanian
capitol. Western powers are alarmed, with one out-going
president stating
"An eight-lane highway? You could fit a lot of tanks on
that thing."
January 1st, 2000: Tired of political strife and
economic instability, the
recovering European nations almost all elect new
leaders. We have yet to see
the effectiveness of this change... but one thing is
assured: Europe needs
good leaders to make her dominant in the 21st century,
for bad decisions
could cost Europe her very autonomy from Russia!
